今までは問題なく使っていたプリンタがパソコン内から消えていて、再度インストールしようとしたらエラーが出ます。
これらのことで問題があるとしたら、原因は何がありますか?

ドライバーのインストールの件ですが、
どんな状態で以前のドライバー情報がなくなったのか・・不明ですが、XP等なら、「システムツール」からしシステムの復元である程度、過去の以前の状態までパソコンを戻す事も可能ですが、一般的に「プリンターの一覧」からプリンターを削除し、新たに「再インストール」で入れな直す事か可能だと思いますが、それでもエラー等で出来ない場合、XP事態に不具合が生じていると思います。

パソコンの場合、不具合の原因が単発ではなくて、複合的な要素もありますので、一概にはご返答しにくいのですが、プリンターに限らず、ほとんどの周辺機器の場合、購当時の付属CDのドライバーよりも、最新のバージョンのドライバーがメーカーのHPにありますので、最新のドライバーをインストールされてはどうでしょうか。
